If you want to set the tone of your wedding here is your chance!!

A reading can be anything you want it to be!!

Humorous readings, words or sayings you often say to each other, words from a beautiful card, quotes, poems, stories, letters, and poems written to suit the occasion.

If you want humour, choose a funny reading or story but be very careful who delivers it, because a botched humorous reading not delivered with its intended meaning becomes lost in the translation and could highlight your ceremony for all the wrong reasons.

There are many types of readings to choose from that will suit every wedding scenario, and the following selection is just a sample:

 Laura Medley

We have all had many friends
throughout our lives,
but only a few of those friends
we would call good friends,
That's because being a good friend
involves time and understanding and love,
which can be difficult to share with another.
When I think of my good friends,
I always think about you,
because that is what you have been to me.
You have taken the time
to be there when I needed you,
and you have listened to me
when my life was changing.
You have always cared enough
to try to understand my feelings
and help me to understand myself.
And, most important,
your consideration and honesty
have shown me
that your friendship is true…
symbolising a very special kind of love
that only a few friends
ever share with one another.
Thank you for being such
a good friend to me,
and for all the joys we have known together.

It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say 'I love you.' at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together to face the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways. It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit. It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right partner -
It is being the right partner.

Every day you live,
Learn how to love.
Take time with each other,
Restore each other's soul with loving words.
Receive love with as much understanding as you give it.
Find that which is within yourselves
Then you can share it with each other.
Do not fear this love,
And do not fear this marriage,
But keep open hearts and sincere minds.
Be sincerely interested in each other's happiness,
Be, too, constant and consistent in your love,
And in your actions.
From this, as you know, comes security and strength.
All that we love deeply becomes a part of us,
So, even though you retain your individuality,
Today in a real sense you also become one in a true unity.
That this may be deep and rewarding,
Today, the day of your marriage,
Try to commit yourselves,
Fully and freely and trustingly,
To each other, without reservations

Edmund O'Neill

Marriage is a commitment to life, the best that two people can find and bring out in each other. It offers opportunities for sharing and growth that no other relationship can equal. It is a physical and an emotional joining that is promised for a lifetime.Within the circle of its love, marriage encompasses all of life's most important relationships. A wife and husband are each other's best friend, confidant, lover, teacher, listener and critic. And there may come times when one partner is heartbroken or ailing, and the love of the other may resemble the tender caring of a parent for a child. Marriage deepens and enriches every facet of life. Happiness is fuller, memories are fresher, commitment is stronger, even anger is felt more strongly and passes away more quickly.Marriage understands and forgives the mistakes life is unable to avoid. It encourages and nurtures new life, new experiences and new ways of expressing a love that is deeper than life. When two people pledge their love and care for each other in marriage, they create a spirit unique unto themselves, which binds them closer than any spoken or written words. Marriage is a promise, a potential made in the hearts of two people who love each other and takes a lifetime to fulfil.

You share today the joy of a deep commitment
And a sacred trust, and you have given each other
The most precious gift of love
Treasure it, nurture it and encourage it
With all the honesty you used in creating it
You are sharing something rare and beautiful
Always speak the truth and listen attentively
So that you may understand each others thoughts and intentions
Inspire each other by sharing your accomplishments
Say I love you often to retain the warmth between you
Laugh a lot too, even when you are angry
Remember you are each other's best friend
Stand together and for each other always
May each day be a blessing
And the fulfilment of your dreams.

There is no greater happiness than that of sharing life,
With all its joys, and all its cares, as a loving man and wife.
For love gives life new meaning, and has a special way
Of growing stronger, and deeper, with every passing day.
Yes, life is so much happier and brighter when you're sharing
The very special joys that come with loving and giving and caring.

Two friends decided to journey together towards a common destination. Before they began their journey they share their expectations as follows: There will be days, my friend, when one will want to walk along the mountain path, whilst the other may prefer the valley, but we will come together at the end of the day and share our experiences. There will be days when one will want to sing and dance, whilst the other will prefer to travel in quietness, so we will choose different paths, but we will meet at the close of the day and be content with our experiences. There will be days when one may want to rest, whilst the other may want to move further along the path, but at the right time we will come together and be happy that each has fulfilled their own needs. There will be days when we shall travel together as one. If we can respect the other's need whilst still fulfilling our own, then our journey will be an experience to rejoice in.

I love you because you’re my future,

My present and part of my past.

My world has been turning so quickly,

And time just keeps moving so fast.

I love you because you have something

No ordinary person could give.

Warmth that I will cling to forever,

And hold onto as long as I live.

I love you because your devotion,

Is tender and wonderfully rare.

And no-one could ever imagine

The magical moments we share.

I love you because you are truthful,

Your eyes hold a key to my heart.

I know that you share my commitment,

And I know that we never shall part.

I love you because you are wonderful.

And you give me all that I need.

A hug when I seek reassurance,

And a smile when we’ve disagreed.

I love you because – I just love you,

For too many reasons to say.

And I’ll always be right here beside you,

A breath and a heartbeat away.

A family is a place where you can laugh and cry
be silly, sad, or cross, where you can ask for help
and tease and yell at each other,

and know that you will always be loved.

A family is made up of people who care about you when you are sad,
who love you all the time, no matter what, and who share your good times.
They don't expect you to be perfect,
but just want you to try to be the best you can be.

A family is a safe place like a circle,
where we learn to like ourselves,
where we learn about making good choices,
where we learn to think about things before we do them,
where we learn to be honest, and to have table manners,

and respect for other people,
where we are special, where we share ideas,
where we listen to them and they listen to us,
where we learn the rules of life to prepare ourselves for the world.

The world is a place where anything can happen.
If we grow up in a loving family… like our family
we are ready for the world.
